Top 5 Bluetooth Speakers to buy in the UK

By | Speakers | No Comments

There’s an abundance of portable bluetooth speakers available to buy in the UK. We’ve selected what we think are currently the top 5 bluetooth speakers based on their features, price, size and style. So here goes…

1. UE BOOM 2 Bluetooth Wireless Speaker

Excellent sound, actually waterproof and long battery life, what’s not to love. You only have to look through all the great reviews on Amazon to see how many happy customers there are and we completely agree. It’s also rugged so can be dropped and even the wireless range is superb – an improvement over the first generation.

It’s also priced brilliantly now at only £99.95.

2. Bose SoundLink Color

Bose are synonymous with good sound and they won’t let you down with this sub-£100 bluetooth speaker. Available in 5 different colours, it’s also doing well when it comes to style. Claimed battery life is 8 hours and charged easily through USB, either from a wall plug or computer.

The one glaring omission for a portable speaker is that it isn’t splashproof so this one should be missed if that’s a requirement. Having said that, it’s excellent value at only £99.99.

3. Creative MUVO Mini

The cheapest on the list but it still packs a punch. It’s also splashproof to IP66 so perfect for pool parties or the classic British summer.

You get full sound with this speaker and up to 10 hours battery life and features that you’d expect from a speaker with a much bigger price tag. At the moment, you can pick one up for just £48.90.

4. FUGOO Sport

The FUGOO is one of the best looking speakers in the list and maybe one you haven’t heard of before. It’s available in other guises (style and tough) but as most of these speakers are at least splashproof, we’re looking at the Sport. It’s waterproof, has 40 hour battery life and fantastic sound.

Its one of the pricier speakers at £169 but we think it’s well worth it if you have the budget.

5. JBL Xtreme

When you think of JBL, you think BASS! And this speaker doesn’t disappoint. Dual external radiators make sure you can feel the bass as well as hear it. The sound is incredible from a portable speaker.

It’s also packed with features. It can be used as a speakerphone, is of course splashproof and comes with high capacity battery giving you 15 hours playback which is impressive considering the sound. This speaker is currently selling at £249 so if money is no object or you really love your bass on the move, look no further.

There’s no definitive answer to the best speaker in this list but for overall looks, features and quality sound for the money, it has to be the excellent UE BOOM 2 Bluetooth Wireless Speaker.

Picking the perfect beer tower

By | Beer Towers | No Comments

So how do you choose from the huge array of different beer towers out there?

You need to consider a number of factors before settling on your beer tower such as:

  • Capacity – how many pints or litres do you want it to hold? They generally range from around 5 pints and up to 4 litres.
  • Style – do you want a standard looking tower or something with novelty value?
  • Ice core – the single most important thing to me is that my tower has an ice core to keep my beer cool. Whilst it’s normally drunk quite quickly, the ice core keeps the beer at a perfect temperature so highly recommended.

These are the three most critical things to consider but look out for other things like fruit infusers if you might be using it for cocktails when the mrs is in charge!
